Shakedowns and Airports
The title really is not as bad as it sounds….
We are on our way. I’m finishing this post at the Indianapolis airport Monday evening. We made it thru check-in and security with no trouble.
Saturday we had an equipment shakedown. We went thru packing lists and ended up making a few runs to fill in the gaps. For those interested I will include our equipment list at the bottom of this post.
It seems to be quite a bit of “stuff” to load in 4 relatively small bike bags. The truth be told some of it is “shared” equipment that I will split with Joe. I actually have a bit of spare room.
One of my biggest anxieties was getting the bike boxes checked. Our flight from Indy to DFW is on American Airline but was booked thru Qantas. The ticket agent wanted to charge us an extra large item fee for the bikes. Fortunately I had printed off the Qantas sport equipment policy regarding checking bikes. After reading thru the policy the agent said it looks like they were covered as an included checked bag and waived any additional fees. Whew…
